Prince George, B.C. - The vote  by undergraduate students at UNBC on the U-Pass referendum  was YES!

70% of the  those who voted said they agreed to  adding $48 dollars to their  tuition-student fees per semester for the unlimited transit access pass.

The pass will also  allow students access to the   Four Seasons pool  and the Aquatic Centre..

The City of Princ George plans to have the  U-Pass in place in time for  classes  in September of 2008.

the U-pass should be OPTIONAL as some students wont ever need the public transit!!
I agree - as a part-time student this additional $48 has now put my tuition for 1 course (Note for ONE course) at just under $700 - that does not include my textbooks. Pretty much this may take me out of taking any further courses at UNBC - correspondence courses here I come!!!!!
Not all students use all of the services at the university either - it is impossible to prorate student fees based on what students use - this makes UNBC a little more attractive to those potential new students - given the remoteness of the university it only makes sense to do this.
"given the remoteness of the university it only makes sense to do this"

Given the location of the university and the number of students that already drive because the public transit system in PG is so terrible, it only makes sense to vote NO to the UPass.
