Prince George, B.C.- River Road in Prince George is blocked at the west end as crews clean up the area following the tipping of a tank truck over the lunch hour.
Police and fire officials are on the scene.
A commercial tanker truck carrying 17,000 litres of diesel, had rolled over onto the driver's side. Although a small amount of diesel has leaked onto the road, it was quickly contained.

The 56 year old Prince George driver and lone occupant, escaped with only minor injuries, refusing medical treatment.

Investigators believe the driver was trying to turn right off Cameron Street on to River Road, when he was unable to negotiate the corner. The truck tipped,  coming to rest mostly in the oncoming lane. No other vehicles or persons were involved.
Speed is considered a factor. Motor Vehicle Act charges are likely.

A small portion of River Road near Cameron Street is expected to be closed for hours. Clean up crews will remove the diesel from the tank before attempting to remove the truck.

Slow the f* down. I am tired of seeing these trucks being driven so fast onto and off that bridge area. Is the 5 seconds you gain really worth someone's life?!
It's obvious that he was going to fast, it looks as though he come around the corner to fast and his load swished and pulled him over.
It's not just truck drivers who are driving to fast on the roads. It's EVERYBODY...

To all those impatient drivers who want to go faster than the posted speed on the Hart highway... this is what happens when you speed.

But I guess as long as this guy was speeding within those speed limts as set by the speeders on the Hart he's "good to go"..!

Hmmmmm.... guess there's NO ONE to blame then. This must of been one of those unexplainable freak accidents then... YUP, chalk it up to that!
"To all those impatient drivers who want to go faster than the posted speed on the Hart highway... this is what happens when you speed."

No. This is what happens when I drive at a speed you can't handle.

Are you one of those impotent old men who believes that "Keep Right Except To Pass" doesn't apply to them? I do so enjoy having to pass those guys on the right.
Faxman - what makes you think that old men are impotent. Many are important, not impotent. Am I to assume that the young potent men are capable of screwing the rest of us around?
Faxman - Newtechie believes that if you disobey the speed limit sign you are a felon but he is allowed to break the "keep right except to pass" sign because of some self rightous hall pass. Its completely hypocritical but trust me, you won't change his mind.
As his lean approaches the center of gravity past his bearing points on his wheels, he is thinking, ahhhh crap, there goes a nice weekend.

No worries, we have drains, just wash it away.

Yes, taking a corner too fast is exactly like driving on the main North-South highway in the province.
I want to go faster than the posted speed EVERYWHERE. I don't want to roll it on a corner though. He just had the load shift at the right moment.
Hey interceptor,

I don't have to get over if I'm already going the fastest aloowable speed (by law) in the fast lane... so if I'm ALREADY going as fast as I'm allowed then I can't go any faster... so I ain't pulling over.

The sooner you learn that the easier it will be for you.
It's easy for me to pass you on the right, so I'll just do that.
I do not understand why some equate this too driving faster than the posted speed on the Hart or anywhere else.

This appears to be a case of shifting liquid load likely caused by going slower than the posted speed but faster than the conditions of the driver's vehicle handling ability for this vehicle in a curve and perhaps the internal baffling/compartmentalization of the tank or lack of such baffling or improper baffling for cornering the vehicle.

This baffling, for instance does nothing for sloshing of liquid side to side.

Was there not a similar rolling of a tanker truck this year?

Why do you ignore the "Keep Right Except To Pass" signs? Is your life so pathetic that blocking the flow of traffic is the only joy you get? Did your momma not give you enough hugs? Is it just a bizarre sense or entitlement?
Saw that as I was on my way to 1st AVe. Definitely speed was involved. Good thing the fuel didn't spew out! Too close to the river for that!

gus is right about the baffles and it said about 17000 litres of diesel so he was running legal weight and with diesel his tanks were not full and you have to be carefull of the side shift of the load.
Faxman, I travel the Hart daily pretty much and always travel at or slightly above the posted speed and do keep to the right. However when preparing to make a left turn I will move into the left lane when it is safe and not fighting traffic on the left. Again maintaining proper speed. If this is not fast enough for you or you donot like me in the left lane then you know what. IT SUCKS TO BE YOU. Have a nice day.
Nearly all the tanks I hauled had no baffles at all and with liquids with a flashpoint of 60 degrees F. People get careless sometimes. Sometimes you get lucky, sometimes its just not your day. Please be careful everyone. People who speed are not thinking of others or unexpected occurances that come up every once in awhile. With more speed, the less time you have to react. I like to drive relaxed and safely. Some people though seem to get high on the adrenalin. I really don't like panic stops or hard braking. It leaves you with lumpy tires.
You can pass me on the left or you can pass me on the right if your in that much of a hurry,I don`t care...if I get home late I`ll just take a Viagra...
That's the way you're supposed to do it retired senior. Thank you. :)
