Prince George, B.C.- If the advance poll is any indication, this could be one very busy municipal election in Prince George.
Chief Electoral Officer, Wendy Nordin says the two advance polls this year saw 1440 people turn out to cast ballots, while 1078 took advantage of the advance balloting in 2005.
“There could be any number of reasons for the increase” says Nordin “The rules are different this time on who can vote in an advanced ballot, so that may have opened the doors up for more to take advantage of that opportunity.”
The big ballot of course is Saturday. The polls are open at 8 a.m. and will remain open until 8 p.m. at the following locations:
- Austin Road Elementary School
- Beaverly Elementary School
- Blackburn Community Centre
- Edgewood Elementary School
- DP Todd Secondary School
- John McInnis Jr. Secondary School
- Malaspina elementary School
- Ron Brent Elementary School and
- Van Bien Elementary School.
In order to vote, you must be 18 years of age or older, a Canadian Citizen, a resident of B.C. for at least 6 months before voting day, and a resident of the City of Prince George for at least 30 days prior to voting day and not otherwise disqualified from voting.
You will be required to bring two pieces of identification that confirm who you are and where you live.
